The electromagnetic field between two electrodes measures the movement of water (the conductor) and evaluates the flow rate. This is indicated on a hand held control unit or logged. Averaging or sampling intervals can be input. Particularly useful in shallow (can measure in only 5cm water depth) or  weeded waters.
